Full Story

The San Jose Giants concluded the first half of their season with a 3-2 win over the Modesto Nuts.  Shawn Sanford picked up his fifth win of the season as he went six and two thirds innings and allowed just two runs.

The San Jose offense did all of their damage in the middle innings. After a Ricky Oropesa one out double in the fourth, Luke Anders singled up the middle to give the Giants their first run of the game.  Then in the fifth, Bobby Haney scored on an RBI groundout by Joe Panik and Adam Duvall doubled home Ryan Lollis.

Those three runs were enough for the San Jose bullpen as Phil McCormick, Dan Runzler and Jose Valdez combined to keep the Nuts hitless after Sanford's departure.

With the win San Jose finishes the first half 38-32 overall, while the Nuts finished 34-36.
