Wilkes-Barre/Scranton defenseman Joe Morrow found the back of the net with 53 seconds left in overtime to give the Penguins a 2-1 win over the Connecticut Whale at Mohegan Sun Arena.
After two periods came and went without a goal, the Penguins and Whale traded power play goals early in the third. Chad Kolarik struck against his former team to make it 1-0 at 4:16, taking a backdoor pass from Trevor Smith and one-timing it inside the near post. Almost immediately after the go-ahead goal, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton was assessed back-to-back penalties to give Connecticut a 5-on-3 advantage.
