A power-play goal by Riley Holzapfel with 2:49 left in regulation propelled the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins past the Toronto Marlies, 2-1 at the Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza.
Holzapfel would give the Penguins their first lead of the night with less than three minutes to go in the third by tipping in a Simon Despres slapshot. Standing by the near circle, Holzapfel was able to redirect the low blast over the left pad of Marlies goalie Ben Scrivens.
Despres knotted the game up at 9:27 of the final frame, lifting a backhand to the top of the Toronto net. Benn Ferriero had the initial chance in front of the Toronto net, but was denied by Scrivens before Despres deposited the rebound past the extended glove hand of the Marlies netminder.
