Victoria, BC-based digital sports news agency SendtoNews has inked a distribution partnership with Glacier Media, a Canadian publisher of over 80 local community media assets in western Canada, as well as newspapers, trade publications and digital offerings.
(The Business Information Group, publisher of Mediacaster Magazine, is one of Glacier Media’s holdings.)
Using a cloud-based platform, SendtoNews consolidates, curates and distributes sports video highlights from professional sports leagues and top-tier amateur events, and then makes the inventory for major brand sponsorship and marketing initiatives.
The company says it offers a unique revenue sharing model that ensures all entities in the distribution chain - from the content creator through to the broadcaster or publisher - benefit.
"We are excited to partner with Glacier Media, adding Canada's largest independently-owned newspaper company to our growing News Partnership Network," SendtoNews CEO Greg Bobolo said in a release. "Glacier Media provides SendtoNews the broadest possible coverage of local newspaper markets and related digital assets across Western Canada. It opens the door to even more revenue sharing opportunities for our branded content and increases our market reach for advertisers."
Hyper-local news and sports publishers are taking advantage of cross-platform opportunities to reach even wider audiences. They - and their advertiser partners - are seeing promotional and revenue sharing benefits when using digital platforms in highly targeted manners to reach readers and viewers with very specific interests.
"SendtoNews is the only one-stop service that offers the depth and quality of sports coverage for the local and regional markets we serve," added Paul Hecht, Glacier Media's Vice President, Digital Media.
Today SendtoNews' content partners include Major League Soccer, American Hockey League, 2013 America's Cup, NBA D-League, Swimming Canada, Rugby Canada and International Triathlon Union.
