Below are stories in the SendtoNews archives that indicate Recreation as their primary category:
With summer months quickly approaching, cities are beginning to come out with summertime Recreation activities for children, seniors, and families alike. There are numerous summer Recreation activities for all ages that are free or very low-cost to get everyone out of the house and enjoying the nice weather rather than sleeping in and wasting away the sunlight.
Community pools are beginning to open for the summer which can be a great way for kids to get some exercise and parents to get some down time in the sun and be able socialize with other parents or finish reading that book they have been longing to read for some time now.
There are also many day camps for children that provide numerous recreational activities. These day camps often travel to local attractions such as theme parks, museums, schools, and parks and also offer some educational refreshment for the months off of school.
Public libraries often offer summer reading programs for children that include out loud readings and activities at the library as well as prizes and games to offer encouragement for children to read more often.
Camping is another great summertime recreational event. Though this can take some preparation and money, it is well worth it to spend some time away from busy cities and get the chance to relax and enjoy nature. The fun in camping is not necessarily always having something to do, but rather bonding as a family and enjoying talking and having fun together over swimming, hiking, and camp fires.
