Below are stories in the SendtoNews archives that indicate Football as their primary category:
We have been supporters of Newcastle United for several years and attended many of their football games.
Their ground used to be called St James Park but the name was changed this season to that of the club owner's company called Sports Direct. However, to Newcastle fans, it will always be known as St James Park. The ground holds over 52,000 supporters and there is always a fantastic atmosphere, especially at the moment, because they are doing so well in the Premiership, which is the top league in England.
The way they are currently playing could mean that they finish in 4th place, which would mean they qualify for the top European knock out cup competition which will earn the club millions of pounds in additional revenue.
Unfortunately, football games in England are so expensive to attend with tickets in the Premiership costing anything from £25 to £60 per match. In the current economic climate that is an awful lot of money to find every other week.
Football games are now played every day of the week due to coverage by Sky. On a Saturday and Sunday football games can be played at any time from 11 am to 8 pm. This can be a problem for away supporters who may have to travel over 100 miles to get home having left the stadium at around 10 pm on a Sunday and have to be at work the following day.
The football season is almost over so we will soon know who will get relegated and who will get promoted and who will win the most coveted trophy of all-the Premiership title.
